30 Day Video Game Challenge: Day 11!

Happy Sunday Night Novas! The post is coming late today because I wasn’t able to write it earlier. Hey, better late than never am I right? For those of you who are new to the blog, at the beginning of June we joined in with other bloggers on the 30 day blog challenge. Basically, we are responding to questions and blogging about them every day for 30 days! Feel free to comment or join us on this excursion. Let’s see what today’s topic is…

Day 11 – Gaming system of choice.

Great topic! There’s different gaming systems and platforms for gamers to use to play their favorite games. This answer won’t be much of a surprise to Novas that have been following for a while. I’ve decided to answer this question in 2 parts: My favorite current console and my all time favorite console. My favorite gaming system currently is the Xbox One. I prefer the Xbox One console to the PS4 or to PC for many reasons.

  • I love the controller
  • I love that I can hook my cable box up and watch tv as I play
  • I love Microsoft
  • Xbox has my favorite game… Gears of War 4

The second part of my answer to today’s question will be my overall favorite console of all time. It’s going to have to be the Nintendo 64. I’ve already paid my respects to this gaming system in one of the Throwback posts.Click Here to read it! Pretty much the Nintendo 64 provided me with awesome memories as a kid. Mario Kart, Super Mario 64, Wave Race, Diddy Kong Racing, Pokemon Snap, Mario Party, etc.

Plenty of awesome memories that I will not forget and the 64 is the reason why.

Those are my 2 answers for favorite video game system, what are yours? Do you agree with my choices? Let’s talk gaming consoles!

  1. My favorite game system is the PC. But I wouldn’t call it a game system when I look at WHY it’s my favorite one. I like it because you can emulate, program, mod and immerse every aspect of any game you want. It’s like one immensive big sandbox. But then, the PC is a workstation. Because Game devs are nothing else than playing a big sandbox game on the PC, making a game out of their imagination.

But away from that. My favorite game console is the N64. Now you might debate that, especially because I have XBox, PlayStation and Nintendo consoles all alike and love them. But for me, the N64 gives you a gaming experience that can’t be emulated, refreshed or improved by graphics. Like the first time I played Majoras Mask and felt this terror of the Moon crushing the world in this dark ambience. The remake of the game didn’t quite hit that kind of atmosphere. I love XB and PS both equally because of Halo on XB and several games like NIOH on PS. But what I mostly love is a unique game experience which was only delivered to me by the N64.

    1. Thank you for commenting! I definitely understand your choices. As a gamer I have multiple systems to game on because you can’t really pick a favorite if you haven’t tried them on right? Halo is an awesome franchise. My newest Halo game is Halo Wars 2 which is the RTS Halo but still tons of fun.

I agree that the N64 was a console like none other in my opinion. Especially because we were able to turn the camera angles!!!! Hahaha. Enjoy your Monday!

      1. Mario Kart. Don’t forget Mario Kart. It seems for people who never played on an N64 that Mario Kart 64 is the hardest game ever xD

Have a good one too mate!

  2. Whole heatedly agree with the N64. I poured hours upon hours in it and it’s many great games. I certainly loved the controller, even if it looked odd at first, the thing just rested in my hand perfectly and it was very intuitive to have a trigger below the analog stick. May shooting in golden eye feel like second nature.

I do feel like the gamecube controller improved on the feel and ultimately was the most comfortable controller with some great analog shoulder trigger and amazing button placement that my thumb could literally roll over and properly press all the buttons surrounding A, but in the end, the games of N64 won me over. I can name several that I love to this day and really set big standards for gaming for me

    Mario 64
    Shadows of the Empire
    Killer Instinct Gold
    Rogue Squadron
    Banjo Kazooie
    Star Fox 64
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
    Golden eye 007
    Perfect Dark
The best wrestling games of all time, Wrestlemania 2000 and No Mercy
    Diddy Kong Racing
    Conkeys Bad Fur Day
    Super Smash Bros
    Mystical Ninja

Loved every single one of these, best console ever

    1. Those are amazing games! I’m sure everyone has played 007. I remember having my cousins over and we would play becase we have 4 controllers. It was the most amazing game ever and is still held in high regard by gamers! I remember we would have rules that you can’t use certain characters and we would remove the golden gun from the maps. We would always play on license to kill mode though. I also remember one day we had a chop only match where you would literally beat your opponents. So much fun!

Killer instinct is another legendary game. Playing with glacius was my jammmmmm. My brother still has Wrestlemania 200 hahahha. Thank you for commenting!
