Hiya Gamers, Geeks and Friends! I’m super excited about this new segment that I will add on to the blog! Firstly, I want to shout out WovenEclipse and AcaciaAurora for inspiring me to start this creative writing venture. Both bloggers send pictures to each other and write a short story regarding the picture. When I first came across these posts I fell in love because it’s a great way to hone your craft. Check out their posts that inspired me below:

In The Name of Love– Acacia Aurora
Let’s get started I will display the picture sent to me this week and write my story!
Additionally: I would like to say that this looks like a scene for the video game 7 Days to Die (great game btw) lol. Now on to my story.
Kyrie Dayton wasn’t afraid of the Dean who relishes expelling students at any turn, he wasn’t afraid of the biology assignment to dissect a snake and harvest it’s grotesque organs, he didn’t feel nauseous at this years Scream Fest on campus that supplied endless student bodies to the infirmary on campus, after the all too realistic dinner and a movie featuring spaghetti guts, sausage intestines and don’t forget the poop pudding with tootsie roll lumps (mmm he could go for another helping of that pudding served out of a diaper). No Kyrie would not be phased by any of that, he wouldn’t let himself fall victim to the common musings of a mortal human. He dared to be different, enjoyed embracing the weird and consented to every cleverly, concocted scheme to terrify, make sick or watch the fears manifest. With his ability to not fall prey to silly stories, fables, rumors and tales, why couldn’t he move? Why was his heart seeming to beat in slow motion and the sweat rolling down his brow he couldn’t wipe? More importantly, why did he have this overwhelming sense of nostalgia as if he had seen this house before? Why was Bancroft Manor burning in his mind!
The aroma of rotting wood, burnt rubber and spray paint gave Kyrie the worst headache. If being here on a dare wasn’t enough, now he’d have to endure the stench of death for 3 hours. Last week Kyrie and his best friend Harmony were walking on a back alley through the streets of Kentucky. The young adults were up to their usual antics gabbing about the football team’s humiliating loss and ranting about the students who asked the most annoying questions in class. Kyrie and Harmony were both seniors going to college at LSU. During their excursion, they stumbled upon a woman seeming to be homeless outside of Brisco’s Deli on Fleece st. Kyrie bought the woman an Italian sub with chips and a frosty slushy as it had been abnormally hot this Winter afternoon. Grateful for the meal or pulling at his leg, the elder woman told Kyrie of a dare that has never been fulfilled. She told of an old manor where no one dare’s enter and how no one could spend 3 hours in the house before running scared. Kyrie was a thrill seeker and Harmony had dared him to try and stay in the house for 3 hours. Fast forward to today he can’t move!
Kyrie can feel his joints relaxing and his breathing finally stabilizes. He approaches the decrepit steps and takes a deep breath. “I have never been one to run away from a challenge.” Kyrie thinks. Just then a burst of confidence is instilled in our friend and his face flashed a smirk. With determination in his eyes, a smile on his face and his Go Pro on his hip, Kyrie seeks to win the dare and enter the Manor. He starts up his Go Pro, records his snarky intro and pushes the door to Bancroft Manor open. Kyrie spins the Go Pro camera around to start filming and journeys inside.
What did you think of the short story? What ideas come to mind when you see this picture? Once again thank you for the idea from WovenEclipse and Acacia Aurora! Would you like to join in this Creative Writing exercise with me, if so comment below and we can!
